MR. BLANKET!

Last week our house welcomed a new addition to the family. Mr. Blanket. As you may have guessed, the name was inspired by Michael Jackson and one of his bizarre name choices. Sounds much better on a cat than a baby if you ask me! Blanket is quite the spunky kitty, jumping from surface to surface, finding any empty shoe to stuff his tiny little face into (sometimes getting stuck). This is also quite the momentous occasion for me as I have never had a pet (besides the whole pet rock thing, but that was just lame).

As of now Mr. Blanket is just Blanket since he is still waiting on his bow tie. That's right ladies and gentlemen, this cat is going to become one spiffy kitty. It seems that only residents of 119 Oxford think this idea is absolutely hilarious. Personally, if I were to see a kitty with a bow tie I would just assume the cat was british, and give it a BBC british accent in my head. Can you imagine the voice of Colin Firth coming from a kitty? Or better yet, Andy Rickman? Pretty funny.

Well anyway, here is the little kitty himself, presenting... Mr. Blanket!

Two months.

The amount of time you have awaited this very post. Please forgive the neglect.

I have semi-exciting news (all two of you can pretend to jump for joy, as you are already aware). We have probably most definitely acquired a great house for rent, with a whopping TWO kitchens. This fact has had an immense influence on my google search today. I have been sorting through blogs, traipsing from recipe to recipe with eyes like saucers.

I'm in love.

I look at these blogs, some very beautiful (most, are photographed quite nicely) others look like they were made by stay-at-home soccer moms. The more I look at these blogs, the more I want in, you know? Even if it caters to a couple of people chained to an office desk. It looks like fun.

So here is the plan! A blog: food, design, music.. and most important...me! Haha after reading that last part over again, I realized how non-sarcastic it actually sounded. Anyway, I'd rather update this then update my facebook, so I have set off on a good foot.

If we get this place, we will be moving in three weeks! Cooking, baking, big house galore!

For now, you will just have to listen to silly old me!

25 Things
Ok! So I keep reading these things on facebook, but since I don't actually need or want people to know my business I'm posting it all here, in a place that three people will see.

So here it is. A great ways to spend time at the office!

25

1. I was born on June 29th 1986. My Mother's 30th birthday.

2. My love (or addiction, or whatever) of Coca Cola stems from a childhood hobby of collecting Coca Cola memorabilia.

3. As a child I referred to myself as "Kathryn A Little Bit Jaynes". My actual name is Kathryn Elisabeth Jaynes.

4. I find it funny how wistful people are in these things, like " I fear that I will never be loved and die childless, having lived a life of emptiness". Is this the Oprah book club?!

5. I was Valedictorian of my grade 8 graduation.

6. My first crush proclaimed to the class "When I grow up I'm going to marry Kathryn Jaynes! Or Melissa Hamilton." Needless to say, he was the coolest kid in the class and was 9 years old when he started smoking.

7. My favorite high school teacher was Mr. Doyle who taught art. We would often get him to repeat the days of the week:

Us: "What was that Mr. Doyle?"

Mr. Doyle: "I said it is due Tuesdee!"

8. In grade 12, me and a my friend Maria stole our friends fedora and posted a ransom note in her locker. The note was made up of magazine letters and made a huge list of demands like: 55 red m&M's, 3 hairs at 12:46 and it had a Polaroid of someone about to pour fabric paint onto the fedora or 'pimp hat'. About 5 seconds after opening her locker my friend exclaimed "MARIA I SEE YOUR SHOE IN THE PICTURE!"

9. After years of refusing to like pop music, I fell in love with Justin Timberlake because of a dream I had about him. I was in grade 7.

10. As a kid I tried to start a play (script written by Eugenie and I). A book (written by Eugenie and I) and a newsletter (written by Eugenie, Sindhu and I). All were valiant efforts.

11. I placed first in standing long jump for several years amongst other scarborough schools, although I was also disqualified from relay for running into another persons lane.

12. My favorite piece of art is Jack Pine by Tom Thomson.

13. I have a certain weakness for Demi Lovato's "Get Back". It's amazing.

14. I looooove wrapping presents. It brings me absurd happiness.

15. I often find myself eating a burrito or swiss chalet on a weekly basis.

16. I LOVE Juniors mints and sunflower seeds. I am a firm believer in having a salty and a sweet snack (but never in combined form like a chocolate covered pretzel)

17. I have American citizenship.

18. My friend Krista lost my drivers license at a club and it resurfaced years later at a McDonald's in Pickering.

19. I will own a wiener dog one day.

20. I was in the Caribbean dance club. This was in grade 8, so I even did it sober!

21. I fell asleep watching 'Batman' and 'Transformers'.

22. I make good cookies.

23. I sleep walk. A couple of months ago I got up, opened the door for the delivery guy (who hadn't even rung the doorbell) went upstairs to inform my friends someone was there, then went back to my bed. All asleep.

24. I occasionally have something called 'sleep paralysis" which is when you wake up but you're body is not fully conscious, so you cannot move. Since you are still kind of dreaming it all feels incredibly scary.

25. I need to do laundry.

Let The Sunshine In

Today my horoscope read:

"Be extremely careful with email and other online communications today -- others are very likely to misinterpret jokes and sarcasm. For that matter, so are you, so don't jump to any conclusions"

I actually had no intention of reading my horoscope until Gina asked me to post, so I looked up my daily horoscope just for the sake of inspiration, and that was what I got.

It seems as though I am at a stand still.

Or so I thought just moments ago.

At 2:14 Stephanie sent me an email as she often does, stating the amount of time left in our shift. The email reads:

"JUST UNDER 2 HOURS!"

Now, I could have easily 'jumped to conclusions' and become incredibly excited, but that fact is, my shift ends at 5pm.

Thank GOD I'm a cancer.

YOU DELETED ME OFF FACEBOOK BITCH!

Is the delete button on facebook the new bitch slap? Once my sister was incredibly upset with me (I had 'borrowed' some i.d from her years previous) so to show her wrath she deleted me off facebook.

I'm sorry, but what kind of pussy move is that?

Oooh no! I can't see the pictures that you posted from Peru! I'm going to cry now because I won't receive watered-down updates about your life. Why are you shutting me out of your internet life?! How will we ever communicate if I can't make postings on your wall?!

Today I realized that someone deleted me off facebook.

I laughed a little.

It really tells me one of two things: this person cannot stop checking my facebook and thus feels the need to end their obsession by deleting me off facebook (somewhat likely) or this person is trying to show their complete disinterest in me and thinks that deleting me off facebook will somehow prove this (even more likely).

All I'm saying is that today I got bitch slapped by facebook, and to be perfectly honest, it didn't burn, but it kind of tickled...

A List of Things That Annoy Me Right Now

A List of Things That Annoy Me Right Now
By Kathryn Jaynes, Stephanie Farina and Gina Tse

I could probably think up a list of thing that make me incredibly happy and fill my heart with joy. But that isn't as much fun and is probably intended for much warmer weather, so guess what! I'm going to use this blog to bitch!

Things that annoy me right now...
1. People who ride their bikes on the sidewalks. Because there is
nothing scarier then getting hit by a bike. They're incredibly pointy!
2. People with a countdown on facebook to their next warm vacation. YOU SUCK!
3. Healthy people.
4. People who have gotten awesome jobs right out of university and
consistently create facebook status's that remind you of this fact.
5. Unnecessary big, ugly glasses.
6. Trying to look busy when you're actually just efficient!
7. People who say "Hey Girlfriend!".
8. People who 'don't watch TV'.
9. Almost all of the characters on the new 90210
10. People who don't wear pants (aka artists on boxing day).
11. People that stop at the top/bottom of the escalator to figure out where they are going.
12. People that pressure you to walk up/down a single escalator by walking close behind you.
13. People who just dislike escalators, what's up with that?!
14. Teenagers
15. Jobs that barely pay the rent.
